Court proceedings against Shane Sutherland for the murder of Amanda Black have been adjourned two weeks to March 15 as lawyers await evidence disclosure from the Crown.
Sutherland, 27, appeared in Fort St John provincial court Monday by video, and remains in custody.
Sutherland was arrested after RCMP were called to the Village St John townhome complex on 102 Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, where Black was found deceased.
Police initially called the death suspicious and said the two knew each other, releasing limited details.
Sutherland is charged with second-degree murder, and has not yet entered a plea, or been found guilty.
Black was only 22, and family friends say she leaves behind a baby boy.
Friends and family held a lantern release to celebrate her 23rd birthday on Feb. 13.
