Joshua Tyler Bredo, 26, appeared in court in Victoria on Thursday facing charges of murder.

Bredo, who is a former Prince George resident, has been charged in the death of Daniel Jordan Levesque, 20, of Saanich.

Bredo's case was put over to Sept. 1 to enter a plea.

Bredo was arrested on Aug. 3 after police were called to a disturbance at an apartment in Victoria. When police arrived, they found Levesque and Bredo suffering from injuries.

Levesque later died in hospital, while Bredo was treated and released into police custody.

In Prince George Bredo is best known for his involvement with the Matthew McCully Foundation.

Bredo, then using the name Joshua Baba, pledged $10,000 to help create the foundation to honour fallen soldier Cpl. Matthew McCully.

McCully's father, Ron McCully, later alleged Bredo/Baba never produced the money and instead left them with unpaid bills.

Bredo has also been involved in several political scandals, including raising allegations - later proved false - that Cariboo-Prince George MP Dick Harris engaged in improprieties during the 2004 election campaign.
