Fort St. James RCMP will have access to the latest thermographic imaging technology, thanks to a grant from the B.C Civil Forfeiture program.
Police in the small, rural community north of Vanderhoof received $6,000 in funding to purchase a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera, which will help RCMP locate marijuana grow operations and conduct search and rescue operations.
The Civil Forfeiture program is funded by the seizure and sale of proceeds of crime.
In 2012, the province anticipates providing $6.1 million in Civil Forfeiture Grants across B.C.
