Farrell Street residents will soon be free to move about the roadway once the temporary diking gets removed tomorrow.

The Fraser River is continuing to recede, with the South Fort George gauge measuring a height of 9.1 metres Thursday morning. The BC River Forecast Centre has reduced its warning to a high stream flow advisory.

The city's emergency operations centre will undertake safety inspections of seven properties in the evacuation order area and begin removing the gabion baskets Friday afternoon.

Once the inspections and removal is complete, the order and evacuation alerts will be lifted as of 1 p.m. on June 30.

Until that time, vehicle traffic in the South Fort George area remains restricted and residents are reminded that both Cottonwood and Paddlewheel Parks are still closed.
