Five Prince George archers win gold as hosts of B.C. Outdoor Championships

Robin Hoods and Katniss Everdeens from across the province travelled to Prince George over the Labour Day long weekend for a chance to show their skills at the 2019 B.C. Outdoor Archery Championships.

The Silvertip Archers club hosted dozens of athletes at its outdoor range off Highway 16 east, ranging in eight different age groups from under 11 to over 70 years.

By tournament end, Prince George archers made their mark by winning five gold and 10 medals overall in six categories.

This included Liam Bennett, who nabbed a gold medal from Indoor Archery Provincials in Victoria back in April

He pulled out 932 points, including 621 of a possible 720 on Day One, in the Recurve division of his ‘Cub’ level.

The other Prince George medallists are as follows:

GOLD

  • Barry Bepple = Master 60s Male Compound Unlimited
  • Darcy Nygard = Master 50s Male Barebow
  • Katherine Bick = Senior Female Compound
  • Olivia Nelson = Pre-Cub Female Compound

SILVER

  • Jacob Nelson (Silver) = Pre-Cub Male Compund

BRONZE

  • Ray Bick = Senior Male Compound Unlimited
  • Jenny Stern = Senior Female Compound
  • Shelby Borschawa = Cadet Female Recurve
  • Dane Anderson = Cub Male Compound

The final event on the Silvertip Archers’ calendar is the 2019 55+ B.C. Games in Kelowna, taking place Sept. 11 to 14.
