Mother’s Day is going to look a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to make the moms in your life feel special.
We’ve put together a few different ways you can mark the occasion in the era of COVID-19.
Mother’s Day is this Sunday (May 10), so you better start planning something special!
Buy your mom a local mother’s day gift
Many local businesses are having hard time as the economy has slowed to support the restrictions needed to combat the virus.
Mother’s Day is the prefect occasion to support a local business and get something really nice for your mother or partner.
Local establishments like Rocky Mountain Chocolate, Theory Hardware, Dandy Lines, and Art Knaps Plantland all have mother’s day gift options available.
Participate in Mother’s Day Letter Writing Campaign for Seniors
Local COVID-19 volunteers have partnered with two seniors homes in Prince George to brighten the resident’s day on Mother’s Day.
All you have to do is have your or your kids draw pictures, write poems or letters to the Mother’s who are unable to spend the day with their loved ones.
The group needs about 100 submissions by Saturday, May 9.
All submissions will be hung safely for the residents to enjoy.
Email [email protected] with your submissions.
Watch Northern FanCon Mother’s Day Live Stream
Northern FanCon will be doing a live stream on Mother’s Day with Denise Crosby.
She was in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Suits, Ray Donovan, The Walking Dead, Pet Semetary and The Doctor’s Case.
The livestream takes place on Sunday at 2 p.m. and is free to view, but Northern FanCon will also be accepting donations to the United Way of Northern B.C.
If your mom is a sci-fi fan, why not watch with her!
Get some Mother’s Day take-out
You may not be able to go out to a restaurant for a mother’s day brunch or dinner the way you’re used to, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some great local mother’s day food.
The Bistro and Northern Lights, for example, is offering Mother’s day take out packages loaded with delicious food.
Or, you could order take-out from another one of the many restaurants that are keeping Prince George fed.
Even if your social distancing separately for your mom, you could send her one of these delicious options so she has something great to eat on her special day.
Tell your mom you love her
The most important thing you can do this mother’s day is tell your mother, spouse, partner, or the mother figure in your life how much she means to you – and you don’t even have to spend any money to do that.
Sure, a card and flowers is always a good call, but just letting her know she is loved is what really counts.
