Hundreds of firefighters have made more gains in containing the two largest forest fires in British Columbia, located in north-central B.C., helped by continuing cool, wet weather.
The largest 43,000-hectare Pelican Lake fire, 70 kilometres southwest of Prince George, remained contained at 30 per cent. But a smaller 2,300-hectare fire in the same region is now 40 per cent contained, up from 10 per cent the day before.
