Firefighters nipped a potentially explosive situation in the bud Friday morning when they were called to a business in the 2000 block of Quinn Street to deal with an acetylene tank that caught fire.
"On arrival crews found a small amount of smoke coming from the building," Prince George Fire Rescue assistant chief John Law said in a release.
"Tenants had vacated the building safely and fire crews quickly removed the burning acetylene tank outside. The tank was allowed to burn in a controlled and safe manner."
A total of 15 firefighters from three halls were called to the scene at R.H. Jones & Son Mechanical Ltd. at 9:45 a.m. There were no injuries and damage was minimal, Law said.
