Five firearms, a crossbow and a set of brass knuckles when seized when police executed a search warrant on a home in the 2600 block of Inlander Street early Thursday morning, said Prince George RCMP.

The firearms included a loaded .25-calibre handgun with a seven-round magazine and matching concealment holster, a "heavily-modified" .308-calibre rifle, both prohibited, a .22 calibre rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .303-calibre rifle with a two-legged stand at the front and a 10-round magazine.

The seizure also included 843 rounds of ammunition of 14 different calibres ranging from shotgun to rifle to pistol and equipment for making additional ammunition as were several other firearms parts including what appears to be a homemade silencer.

The list also includes a dozen arrows with the crossbow and body armour.

And ecstasy, in tablets and powder form, marijuana and unidentified white powder and crystaline substances are now in police hands.

"It was particularly alarming that a child appears to stay at the residence and all of these firearms were stored insecurely and within easy reach of a child," Cst. Dan Schenkveld said in a release issued Friday morning. "The handgun was laying on the floor a few steps from a child's bedroom."

A man was arrested. His name was withheld pending approval of charges by Crown counsel.
