There's no need to worry if you see smoke billowing from the airport on Wednesday and Friday.

Training on aviation-related structural fires will be carried out on those days, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it could produce quite a sight, airport spokesperson Todd Doherty indicated.

"These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has in the past caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies," Doherty said in a press release.

"These fires are held in self contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas."
