Fire strikes apartment building

Fire crews from three halls responded to a report of a structure fire in an apartment building in the 4400 block of Glenshee Rd. on Friday night.

Fire crews from three halls responded to a report of a structure fire in an apartment building in the 4400 block of Glenshee Rd. on Friday night.

First in crews found residence of the apartment evacuating and some light smoke in the building, a Prince George Fire Rescue Service Assistant Chief Drew Larsen in a press release.

On entering the structure, crews found a small towel and some carpet smoldering in one of the suites which was quickly extinguished.

There was one occupant home at the time who made it out safely without injury.

The cause of this incident is determined as accidental and damage is estimated at $10,000. "There were no other injuries during this call and after monitoring the air quality in the building the alarm was silenced and residence were allowed to return to their suites," Larsen said.
