An electric space heater is believed to be the cause of a fire that broke out Tuesday morning in a mobile at the Lombardy Trailer Park on Norwood Street.

Fifteen firefighters from three Prince George Fire Rescue halls were called to the scene at 7:45 a.m. They found heavy smoke coming from the home with the two occupants standing outside.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, preventing neighbouring homes from catching fire, but the home was left with an estimated $35,000 in smoke and heat damage.

"While the fire investigation is ongoing, preliminary reports are focusing around an electric space heater that was being used at the time when the fire broke out," assistant fire chief Greg Wilkins said.
