An office building in the 6100 Block of Otway Road was engulfed in flames with the roof collapsed when Prince George Fire Rescue was called at 3:35 am Wednesday morning.

Four halls and 18 firefighters with six fire apparatus responded.

First crews found that along with the office building, smaller building nearby was also involved.

The firefighters efforts were hindered by limited access to the building because of the amount of snow surrounding it.

A city loader was called in to plow access to the site, water was supplied using tanker trucks because there were no hydrants in the area.

Initial efforts caused the CN rail line to be shut down due to fire hoses running across the rails. Once access to the mill yard was established fire crews were able to able to resume fire fighting.

Damage is estimated at $50,000. The buildings were not in use at the time so no employees were on site.

This fire has been determined to be suspicious.

Investigation is underway.
