Highway 16 was closed in both directions when a vehicle fire broke out on the road, Wednesday afternoon.

"A non-commercial vehicle and trailer lit on fire," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "There was no collision involved, but there are apparently propane tanks aboard which are not on fire but it is posing a risk so the road has been closed."

The driver of the enflamed vehicle got clear safely, and no one has been injured. Emergency responders controlled the scene and as of deadline were allowing the fire to burn out on its own.

A detour was set up via Telachick Road to allow traffic to continue around the fire.
