Fire gutted a suite at the Homeland Inn early Saturday morning.

At 1:55 a.m. firefighters were called to the motel in the 1600 block of Victoria Street. When firefighters arrived, they found one suite at the motel completely engulfed in flames, according to a statement from the Prince George Fire Rescue Service.

The occupants of the motel were evacuated and nobody was injured in the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to three units.

Fifteen firefighters from three fire halls were able to bring the fire under control quickly. Fire investigators and RCMP were on the scene Saturday morning, and no cause had been determined as of press time.

Several tenants of the motel, which offers long-term rates, were relocated by RCMP Victim Services, while several other units remain occupied.

A caretaker for the property was not immediately available for comment.
