A mobile home at the Ponderosa Trailer Park suffered about $40,000 damage in a fire Wednesday evening, Prince George Fire Rescue said.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the 3400-block Lansdowne Road home upon arrival.

Just one person was in the home when the fire erupted and she was waiting outside when crews arrived. However, she had minor burns to her hands and was transported to hospital for observation.

Firefighters, meanwhile, were able to knock down the flames quickly, according to PGFR, but remained on scene for just over two hours, putting out hot spots and checking for fire extension.

Fifteen firefighters from three halls responded to the fire scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest the cause of the fire to be accidental.
