Fire investigators were sifting through the charred remains of a mobile home, Wednesday, attempting to determine the cause of a late night fire.

The trailer, 3962 Balsam Road at the intersection of Crawford Place, caught fire shortly after 12:30 a.m., said Prince George Fire Rescue Service assistant chief Greg Wilkins. It brought 15 firefighters from three halls.

"The lone occupant managed to escape the blaze and alert neighbours to call 911," Wilkins said. "He was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, and transported to the hospital for observation. There were no other injuries reported."

The fire was quickly extinguished, however damage to the home was extensive. It is no longer habitable, but most of the outer shell is still standing.

Fire officials had no estimate of the values lost, as of press time, and investigators spent Wednesday trying to isolate a cause.
