Fire crews douse Sunday afternoon blaze

Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 200 block of Ruggles Street Sunday afternoon.

Crews found a home with light smoke coming from a second-story window at the front. Firefighters confined the flames to a bedroom where a mattress had caught fire.

There were five occupants at home at the time of the fire and all were able to get out of the home safely. There were no injuries reported. The damage to the home was estimated at $5,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
