A fire in the 300 block of George Street was reported at about 11:30 Sunday night.
Fire crews on scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building next to The Copper Pig BBQ House. It appears as though the antique store Something Old, Something New as well as the building carrying the sign declaring "Welcome to Historic George Street" were the worst affected.
There is no access to George Street and Dominion Street between Third and Fourth Avenue.
Crews will remain on scene throughout the day to extinguish hot spots and to assist with the investigation into the fire.
There is no estimate of dollar loss at this time. Fire investigators will be on scene later this morning.
The barbecue restaurant posted on Twitter this morning that they would be closed for the day.
"Checking smoke damage today. Thank you firefighters and volunteers!" said another Tweet from The Copper Pig. "We are stronger than that! Bbq will be back this week."
