Crews supported by heavy machinery and helicopters took on the now 1,800 hectare Klua Lakes fire near Fort Nelson, the B.C. Wildfire Management Branch reported Sunday.
The fire, which was discovered on May 21, has sparked an evacuation alert affecting 125 people in the community of Prophet River and surrounding areas.
No buildings have been lost to the fire. The wildfire is suspected to be lightning caused.
