As of noon on Tuesday (Oct. 25) fireworks, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will be allowed again in the Prince George Fire Centre area.
The Prince George FIre Centre area starts south of Hixon and extends north to the Yukon border, east to the Alberta border and west past Vanderhoof and Fort St. James.
The ban was put in place on July 28 and extended on Oct. 12, due to dry conditions. The ban applied to fires larger than 50 centimetres wide and 50 cm tall, fireworks, air curtain burners, sky lanterns, burn barrels and binary exploding targets.
Small campfires, classified as Category 1 fires, and gas camp stoves were not banned under the order.
To report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation, call 1-800-663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone or through the BC Wildfire Service mobile app.
