Fire alarm delays flight

Passengers and airport staff were temporarily evacuated from the Prince George Airport terminal Saturday morning.

At approximately 11 a.m., the Prince George Fire Rescue Service was called to the terminal after fire alarms went off. No smoke was seen in the terminal, but staff evacuated everyone as a precaution, airport president John Gibson said.

"A heat sensor went off where a carpenter was working and didn't leave adequate ventilation," Gibson said. "It was just a heat sensor tripped, so no sprinklers went off or anything like that."

Fire fighters conducted a search of the terminal and determined the cause of the alarm within 15 minutes.

One Air Canada Jazz flight suffered minor delays as a result of the incident, Gibson said.
