The Festival of Trees, the annual Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation fundraiser, is eager to return to the Civic Centre this Christmas, one way or another.
This year’s festival, themed a Home Grown Christmas, is scheduled to run from Nov. 26 to Dec. 5 after not being able to go ahead last year due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. The 28th annual version will follow all pandemic protocols in place at the time the event goes ahead.
“There have been a lot of questions following last year’s Festival of Trees, that was reimagined beyond what we thought was possible, as to whether or not we would be proceeding once again this year. The truth is we can’t see it not moving ahead – hopefully in a more traditional way, but definitely in some fashion,” Judy Neiser, CEO for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, said in a release. “We feel that healthcare is more prevalent than ever and focusing on funding much needed healthcare equipment will once again be top of mind.”
Funding for the Dedicated Molecular Diagnostic Lab was a focus last year and was a complete success, she added.
Spirit of the North will be working with the City of Prince George and Northern Health on offering the annual winter wonderland display as close to its traditional format as in past years within a safe and welcoming environment.
Information for ticketed events will be made available soon and go on sale no later than Oct. 15, the foundation said.
