For the first time, women at Prince George Regional Correctional Centre will have their own facility.

Until now, the female inmates were housed in the same building the men were in, sharing common amenities in scheduled turns.

The province brought forward $11.5 million to build an addition at PGRCC especially for females and the work is now complete. The women's wing received its grand opening on Monday and will soon be moved into. It can accommodate 40 women in 20 cells.
