Members of the third battalion of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry were in Prince George on Wednesday to acknowledge the sacrifice made by one of their own.

Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick, who died March 20 at age 21 from injuries suffered in a bomb blast two weeks before, will be remembered by most as the first from Prince George to have paid the ultimate sacrifice during the war in Afghanistan.

But to Cpl. Craig Popowich, Fitzpatrick was a good friend and someone you could count on.

"Just how he lived his life," Popowich said when asked what thoughts ran through his mind about Fitzpatrick during the Remembrance Day service Wednesday.
