The Federation of Canadian Municipalities' chief executive officer is hoping municipal needs won't be sacrificed in federal and provincial governments' efforts to rein in their spending.

Brock Carlton, who was in Prince George Wednesday as part of a province-wide tour, said municipalities and regional districts collect just eight cents of the total tax dollar taken in by the three levels of government yet are responsible for so much more.
