Fatal collision closes highway

Prince George RCMP and Emergency Services have responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Tabor Mountain, about 30 kilometres east of Prince George.

Prince George RCMP and Emergency Services have responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Tabor Mountain, about 30 kilometres east of Prince George.

A collision between an eastbound passenger car and a westbound pick-up truck has resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire. Police have now confirmed one person is deceased.

Highway 16 has been closed for the fire department to deal with the vehicle fire. The highway will remain closed for the next several hours for the police to conduct their investigation and collect the evidence required in this matter.

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure have been advised and are updating Drive BC. There is currently no information on a detour around the scene.

This incident is in its early stages and the police are in the infancy of the investigation. More details will be provided when available.
