When a dozen mothers and their children take to the runway for a good cause, it's cuteness overload.

The Mommy and Me Fashion Show, an early mother's day-themed fundraiser for the Elizabeth Fry Society, will take place at the Ramada on Sunday, April 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. with doors open at 12:30.

"It's such a lovely affair, we'd really like a good community showing for this event," said Jacquie Clarke of Butterfly Boutique, an organizer of the event. "People in our community have really gotten on board with this by donating silent auction items because they really love this cause."

Clothing from The Bay and Butterfly Boutique will be showcased by moms and children while another dozen women will strut their stuff on the catwalk featuring a sneak peek into what local fashionistas are wearing this season.

Those attending the event will be served refreshments, including coffee, tea and an array of desserts and can peruse the silent auction items at their leisure, including items donated by Clarke, a local artist who creates pieces made of driftwood and glass.

Clarke said the cause is close to her heart.

"We have young moms and children in Prince George who are compromised and they need help right away," said Clarke. "I have met a couple of ladies who have been helped by E-Fry that now have jobs and live in secure locations. I have seen the results of what E-Fry has done for these women and it works. This event is about women helping women in this community."

Each guest will receive a gift bag and a sampling of the latest David's Tea flavours.

Tickets are $35 each and are available at the Elizabeth Fry Society, 1575 Fifth Ave. or at Butterfly Boutique at 421 Dominion St.
