A Willow River family is without a home following a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon.

However, they do have house insurance, said a family relative, and the occupants escaped uninjured after a fondue caught fire at about 2 p.m. and quickly leveled the small mobile home.

"They do have three boys and the youngest just had his birthday and all of their toys were burned," said the relative.

Volunteer firefighters were called to the scene, regional district director Kevin Dunphy said, but there was little they could do but keep the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.

"Some people have called to regional district today to offer furniture and stuff but there's really nowhere to store something like that," Dunphy said. "We're trying to figure out some way to raise some funds for them and get them back home again as quickly as possible."
