If you don't need to go outside, it's probably best not to do so.
Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning as of this morning (Feb. 2) at 11:20 a.m.
The weather agency says an arctic air mass over the Central Interior will result in temperatures below -30 C tonight but with northerly winds that will give extreme wind chill values, the temperatures will drop below -40 C.
The forecast on the Environment Canada website says with the windchill, the temperature will feel like -42 C and frostbite will occur in minutes.
Sunday morning (Feb. 3) the temperature with the windchill will also be close to -42 C with frostbite occuring in minutes.
There is a higher risk for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
