The cold weather combined with extreme wind chill is packing them into the Ketso Yoh men's homeless shelter.
"In the last couple of nights we've had people in the dining area," said Elmer Ghostkeeper, a frontline worker at the shelter.
After weeks of mild temperatures, the weather took a turn for the worse on Sunday.
Added to overnight lows below -20 C, winds gusting to 50 km/h were pushing the deep freeze below -40 C with the wind chill.
The pattern was expected to continue Tuesday with "risk of frostbite in minutes," Environment Canada warned.
