An expert on the fine art of making the most out of a livestock pasture will be in Prince George next week.

An expert on the fine art of making the most out of a livestock pasture will be in Prince George next week.

Steve Kenyon will present a two-day condensed version of his year-round grazing systems school to Prince George ranchers on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 4-5 at the Fraser-Fort George Community Futures office, 1566 7th Ave.

The sessions will cover several strategies for summer grazing, winter grazing, pasture calculation, cell design, water systems, fencing systems, cash flow and more.

Kenyon is the principle operator of Greener Pastures Ranching, a company located northwest of Edmonton.

He purchased his first quarter section shortly after graduating from college in 1999 and became a full-time grazier in 2004.

He has since refined several feeding, fencing and watering techniques that require little overhead, improve profitability and benefit the health and productivity of soils.

Those interested in attending are asked to contact Jillian Merrick at the Beyond the Market office at 250-562-9622 ext. 115. The fee for both days is $50 and includes a catered lunch.
