As the 2015 Canada Winter Games' latest official sponsor, Pacific Western Brewing announced Friday a legacy fund, expanding the community's Hometown Heroes program to support athletes throughout the province.

During the months approaching the Games, 16 heroes will be selected to share in a portion of PWB's proceeds from the sale of their products.

"To have the Pacific Western Brewing Company sponsor the games is outstanding," said Stuart Ballantyne, CEO of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. "This company started small, started local and has grown to become B.C.'s largest and longest-established independent brewery, winning awards worldwide. As well, PWB shares the values of the Games: facilitating the dreams and aspirations of Canada's next young champions."

The Games will be the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be held in Prince George and the estimated economic impact is between $70 and $90 million.
