Caledonia Ramblers hike
Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Caledonia Ramblers are hosting a moderately strenuous hike to the Tacheeda fire lookout, about 100 km north of Prince George. The drive to the trailhead takes about 1.5 hours and the hike is 4.8 km one way to the lookout which provides a great 360-degree view of the many lakes and mountains in the area. Volunteer PG Board Basics Workshop
Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Keith Gordon Room, Prince George Public Library, 888 Canada Games Way, Volunteer Prince George offers the second session in the series of workshops called Organizational Structure, Governance & Engaging Volunteers. Developing a strong board is one of the most important actions an organization can take to maintain consistency in services, as well as achieving strategic and long-term goals. $5 per session for members, $10 per session for non-members. Glitz and Glam Gala
Friday, Oct. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Coast Inn of the North, 770 Brunswick St., the Prince George Community Foundation is once again hosting the 2016 Citizens of the Year Glitz and Glam, semi formal gala event to honour those who have gone above and beyond in community volunteerism and philanthropy. This year's honourees are Cindy Smith, Nowell Senior, Trelle Morrow and the group of three ladies as one honouree: Ann Halikowski, Lorraine Hilland and Karen Underhill. First Nations Art Gala
Friday, Oct. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Civic Centre the Carrier Sekani Family Services is hosting the annual Art and Music Gala in partnership with the Two Rivers Art Gallery, featuring live art and musical entertainment, dinner, a live and silent auction of art from various Indigenous artists. The purpose of the event is to revitalize and celebrate traditional art and music and to raise funds which will go towards the Carrier Sekani Family Services William Teegee Art & Music Bursary. The bursary will be utilized to provide grants to students to attend post-secondary music & art institutions, and for Elders and knowledge holders to teach their traditional art and music skills to our younger generations. S.O.D.A. Indian Buffet
Saturday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Hart Crown Banquet Hall, 3955 Hart Highway S.O.D.A., Samuha Overseas Development Assoc., a Prince George based registered charity, will host its annual fundraiser to support families of children and adults with disabilities in Southern India. Studio Fair
Nov. 4, 5, and 6 at the Civic Centre, 808 Canada Games Way, the Prince George & District Community Arts Council will host its annual Studio Fair, which is a juried art fair that provides an opportunity for the community to see original and quality works of art in the marketplace. Hours are Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day pass for adults, seniors and students is $5, children under 12 are free.
