While RCMP from Quesnel were proceeding north to check out reports of an erratic driver, Mounties in Prince George were called south to the Stone Creek Bridge. So were ambulance crews, and fire-rescue personnel. Police from both ends believe their interests are linked by a single-vehicle crash close to the bridge.

It was just before noon on Monday when the lone occupant of a white 1990 Nissan Maxima lost control and went off the right-hand side of the road.

"The male driver was trapped in the vehicle," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "He had serious injuries to his forehead and possible fractures to the leg or hip."

In addition to the BC Ambulance Service paramedics, the scene was attended by first responders from the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Department and the auto extrication team from Area D Rescue Service (Pineview Volunteer Fire Department).

"Motor Vehicle Act charges are being considered and speed is definitely a factor," said Douglass. "Witnesses provided information we are now investigating. The charges being contemplated most are making an unsafe pass on the left, driving without due care and attention, and excessive speed."

Anyone who might have seen the vehicle on its way to its fated crash, please contact RCMP at 250-561-3300.
