Mavis Erickson is the Liberals' candidate in Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies.
Erickson is a lawyer practicing in Prince George and has played roles in promoting issues surrounding missing and murdered women in Northern B.C. She has also twice been elected chief of the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council.
A launch was held at the Liberals' campaign office at 1655 15th Avenue on Thursday.
"The north really needs a big northern voice," Erickson said. "The north needs to be able to benefit more from the natural resources that we sit on and all of the things that come out of the north."
She also commended the Trudeau government for striking the inquiry into missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls, for its progress in lifting families out of poverty and striking a balance between economic growth and preserving the environment.
Also running in the riding are Katherine Kendall (Green), Rob Vaillant (People's Party) and Bob Zimmer (Conservative).
The NDP has not yet named a candidate. The deadline for nominations is Monday.
