If you're travelling north on Highway 97 today (Dec. 7), hang on to your hat and have a strong grip at the wheel.

Environment Canada issued warnings for the Peace River regions earlier this morning as winds could gust between 70 and 90 km/h.

The national service says a frontal system is moving through the north today.

The aftermath of which could lead to structural damages in local and rural communities, such as roof shingles amd windows.

Trees may also break and branches may be blown around, as well as loose objects in open and residential areas.

Winds are expected to ease up in the evening.
