Steve Elliott's tribute to Elvis in a Gospel Show was held last week as a fundraiser for the Northern Supportive Recovery Centre for Women.

The show raised $3,492 for the 30-bed facility.

"It has been apparent for some time that there was a real need in the community for a centre for women similar to what was happening at Baldy Hughes, namely an abstinence-based facility that would assist women attempting to deal with addiction," said Hugh Nicholson, The Prince George Citizen publisher.

"When we heard about the Northern Supportive Recovery Centre for Women, we knew that as a newspaper and as a business in Prince George that we had to get behind this effort. With the help of Glen Scott, one of our employees, and John Major the owner of the Treasure Cove Casino, we were able to bring Steve Elliot to Prince George, for this wonderful concert."

The Citizen is grateful to all those who attended Friday night's Elvis Does Gospel Concert and to Citizen staff and Wood Wheaton for helping make the event possible.
