The number of people in the Prince George area collecting employment insurance stood at 2,680 in November, a 50.6-per-cent jump from the year before according to Statistics Canada numbers released Friday.
The unemployment rate in November was 12.3 per cent, the highest it's been since January 2004. As of December, the city's unemployment rate rose to 13.6 per cent.
