The number of people in Prince George and area collecting Employment Insurance stood at 1,750 in September, according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada, issued this week.
That's up from 1,580 for the same month last year, although down slightly from 1,760 in August.
In September, the city's unemployment rate stood at 7.3 per cent with 48,200 working, 3,800 unemployed but seeking work, and 19,700 not participating.
In September 2014, the city's unemployment rate stood at 5.2 per cent with 51,400 working, 2,800 looking for work and 16,400 not participating.
