Easter policing busts some bad eggs

Police swept up several wanted criminals and took drugs off the street in one fell swoop this Easter weekend.

Police swept up several wanted criminals and took drugs off the street in one fell swoop this Easter weekend.

Just after midnight on Friday, members of the Prince George RCMP's Drug Task Force acted on a search warrant for a residence in the 1800 block of Tamarack Street.

"Two persons were arrested; a quantity of cocaine and various drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.

A 28-year-old and a 34-year-old male were each taken into custody, but the event did not end there.

"While police were at the residence, an intoxicated 19-year-old male from Prince George attended the residence," said Douglass. "The male was checked on police computers and subsequently arrested for breaching conditions of a previous charge. A search incidental to arrest found that the male was in possession of a quantity of cocaine."

At 10 a.m. the same day, the same police crew delivered a search warrant to a home in the 300 block of Ruggles Street on an unrelated matter. Again they found illicit material hidden inside the home.

"Four persons were arrested, a quantity of cocaine and various drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized," Douglass said. "[Charges are pending] against a 47-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman, all of Prince George."

Douglass urged the public to call in more information to keep the drug investigation team busy. Call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or check their website at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
