There was a single vehicle crash on Chief Lake Road near Garvin's Canyon about 5 Wednesday morning.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene along with Fort George Highway Rescue Department who had to use the jaws of life to extricate the lone male from the vehicle.
The driver is in hospital in serious but stable condition.
Chief Lake Road was closed for a time as a result of the accident and has since reopened.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
