Victim Services Week is a fine opportunity to attend a number of workshops that have to do with dynamics of abuse and crime.
During National Victims of Crime Week Monday through April 24 local victim services providers Elizabeth Fry Society, RCMP and the Aboriginal community will hold the following workshops at the Prince George Court House, Room 3016:
**The Elizabeth Fry Society will facilitate on Monday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., covering the dynamics of abuse and specific crime-types such as sexual and partner assault.
** RCMP Victim Services will lead the second workshop Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., covering sudden death, serious crimes, and crime types like home invasions and murders.
** Aboriginal Community-Based Victim Services Native Healing Centre will host the third workshop on April 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. which concerns specific services to Aboriginal populations with various healing components like the medicine wheel and its relation to specific crime types.
**The victim service work being done in the Prince George area will be celebrated and the strength of victims honored on April 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel in the Cranbrook South-Centre Room. Keynote speaker will be RCMP Supt. Brenda Butterworth-Carr, officer in charge of the local detachment. This event is open to the community and outlying area. Reply to the E.
