There was extensive damage, but no injuries on Monday afternoon after a duplex in the 1200 block of Village Avenue caught fire.
At around 1 p.m. 14 firefighters from three halls were called to the home after receiving a report of smoke coming from the duplex. No one was home on either side of the duplex at the time of the fire, according to Prince George Fire Rescue Service assistant chief John Heaslip.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but crews were able to limit the damage to the kitchen areas of both units. The firefighters got the blaze under control quickly, but were on scene for several hours putting out hotspots.
Heaslip said the damage is estimated at $120,000.
