The Prince George RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit seized more than $5,000 worth of cocaine from a local residence Friday afternoon.
Around 4:30 p.m., members of the DEU executed a search warrant on a suspected drug house in the 2000 block of Quince Street after gathering intelligence that the occupants were trafficking crack cocaine.
According to DEU Cpl. Kent MacNeill, the unit was gathering information prior to executing the search warrant for about a month and a half. "It was a mix of doing surveillance and other types of intelligence that we gather," MacNeill said.
Police arrested two adult females and three adult males inside the residence without incident. "When we went in there, there were no barricades or anything like that we encountered. Everyone surrendered peacefully," said MacNeill.
All five people arrested have since been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Prince George RCMP ask that members of the public continue to contact the police regarding suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods. Anyone with information on this, or other illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
