A Surrey man is in custody after Quesnel RCMP uncovered a trove of drugs and cash as well as a loaded handgun when they were called to a domestic dispute on Friday.
Julian Wade Page, 31, has been possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a firearm while prohibited and remains in custody pending an appearance in court on Thursday.
At about 9:30 p.m., police were called to a report of a man pointing a handgun at a woman during a domestic dispute in a Graham Road home just outside the community.
RCMP said the suspect attempted to flee the scene but lost control of the vehicle he was driving and ended up in a ditch distance away. Police found the man hiding in a chicken coup.
With the help of a handler and dog, RCMP found a loaded nine-millimetre next to a bag that contained an assortment of drugs and $4,710 in cash. The drugs are suspected to be over 250 grams of methamphetamine, 100 grams of meth mixed with fentanyl, and 23 grams of crack cocaine, RCMP said.
