Five people were arrested in Prince George Tuesday night as the result of a drug bust.

Around 5 p.m. on May 20, Prince George RCMP conducted two vehicle checks in a parking lot off Ferry Avenue. Officers found approximately one ounce of cocaine for each of the four people subsequently arrested - a 35-year-old man and 37-year-old woman from Fort St. James as well as a 28-year-old man and 25-year-old female from Prince George.

Those arrests led to the arrest of a fifth person an hour later - a 34-year-old man on parole in Prince George from Vancouver - near the intersection of Dominion Street and Patricia Boulevard. His arrest led to a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at his residence on the 4000 block of Campbell Avenue in the early morning hours of May 21.

During the search, officers located about 15 ounces of cocaine (more than 4,000 single uses), two litres of GHB (more than 400 single uses) and two ounces of methamphetamine (more than 500 singles uses).

A black Dodge Durango was also seized as part of the investigation.

Drug trafficking-related charges are anticipated against all those arrested, with the exception of the man from Fort St. James. The 34-year-old is still in custody for breaching parole which the others were released with a future court date.

"The Prince George RCMP is committed to enforcement and prevention initiatives that combat the possession and sale of drugs in the community," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass. "These search warrants were supported by information provided to the police by concerned citizens who are also committed to ridding their community of this problem."
