Motorists were advised to avoid Highway 16 East from Purden to McBride due to limited visibility blowing snow on Monday afternoon.
"Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary," Ministry of Transportation officials said on the Drive BC website in a posting issued shortly before 3 p.m.
An advisory also remained in place for Highway 16 West which had been reduced to single-lane alternating from 40 km west of Terrace to the Port Edward turnoff due to debris on the road, according to an update issued shortly before 5 p.m.
The stretch had been closed outright earlier due to avalanche danger.
