Motorists are reminded that on-street parking restrictions are still in effect until April 15.
The city has turned its attention from snow removal to street sweeping operations and are asking drivers not to park on prescribed snow clearing routes to help speed up the cleaning process.
"If sweepers have to manoeuvre around parked cars, this slows sweeping and leaves a sandy and dusty area once the vehicle moves," said associate public works director Gina Layte Liston.
Parking on residential streets is prohibited during the days between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Downtown street parking is restricted between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Cars in the way of street sweeping operations are subject to being ticketed or towed.
The City's Clean Air Bylaw outlines requirements related to dust, including the use of dust control procedures like air filters and wet suppression at all times.
"Removing traction material quickly is important to reduce the dust that contributes to poor air quality, but the manner in which the material is removed is equally important," said city manager of sustainable community development Tiina Watt.
