A pair of motorists went down an embankment Saturday, rolling their vehicle, while travelling on Highway 97 near the intersection of Old Summit Lake Road. The driver of the vehicle was able to escape but the passenger was trapped inside.
"The injuries to the victim were serious, and he was trapped such that he was not going to get out on his own," said Fort George Highway Rescue Department (FGHRD) chief Keith Laboucan. "This wasn't a fender-bender inside the city, it was an example of how difficult the wreckage can be when incidents occur at highway speeds."
The trapped victim of this crash survived the incident. He was transported to University Hospital of Northern BC with serious injuries.
